Sibley Chess Camp
On May 22, Sibley Chess Club host their first Chess Camp. Sam Smith of Jackson, Mn., John Flores and Jodene Kruse of Sibley instructed a dozen campers at the recently held S-O Chess Camp and Tournament. The camp was held at S-O Elementary. The twelve campers were: Molly Duffy, Sioux Falls; Gabriel Dorschner, Worthington; Trevor Ferguson, Ashton; Tyler Wollmuth, JJ Breuer, Ryan Nasers, Jacob Harms, Jacob Schultz, Ashlynn and Hailey Cavin, Brenda and Ethan Post. The camp were over the basic principles of chess, openings, tactics and strategies, ending and puzzle solvings. We stress on how important it was to have a plan and do not expect to win every game just how we live life in general. We all have ups and downs, however, with a positive attitude we can overcome anything. Pizza and pop was serve for lunch. The fun-filled day ended with a 3 round tournament. Hailey Cavin took the champion trophy. 2nd place went to Jacob Schultz and Ryan Nasers took 3rd place medals. Submitted by beanie and Posted by JB Flores on Wed 07th Jul 10. Okoboji Open The Okoboji Open is tentatively set for April 15-17, 2011 at the same place, The Arrowwood Resort & Conference Center. More details for this tournament will be posted on a later date. For now, please mark your calendars, April 15-17, for another exciting tournament at Iowa Great Lakes. Tournament Director is Senior TD, Hank Anzis.
